2014-01 | Stephen's Run Donation to NECHV
The charity road race held in October 2013 was named in honor of Stephen Perez, a native North Ender and three tour Army veteran who served in Afghanistan and Iraq. In 2012, the 23 year old was murdered in a senseless act of violence in downtown Boston. In addition to the NECHV contribution, proceeds from Stephen’s Run also went to the Rosanne Sdoia Recovery Fund.
Organizers are hopeful that Stephen’s Run will become an annual event. Last year, the 5K road race was held on the morning of Columbus Day with a start at the North End’s Prado (Paul Revere Mall) on Hanover Street following a path through historic downtown Boston.
