I am very pleased that my photograph, Grand Canal Reflections, was accepted in the National Open Juried Exhibition 2020 at the Providence Art Club (11 Thomas St., Providence, RI).
While walking in Venice, Italy during February 2019 for Carnevale, I came across this gathering area for gondolas. Among the shadows, the bright yellow buildings with red window shades were reflecting down in the canal, creating curved, yet well-defined abstract shapes on the still, dark water.
The juror for the exhibition was Matthew Hargraves, PhD, Chief Curator of the Yale Center for British Art. The Art Club is one of the oldest arts organizations in the United States. This show accepted 100 out of over 750 individual entries, including all types of artworks, not just photographs.
Due to the current health crisis, the exhibition is virtual this year during the month of May 2020. View the Catalog, and all the accepted entries on the Facebook album.
