In-person exhibitions are back!

I am very pleased that my photograph, "Rise", was accepted in the 53rd Annual Juried Art Show at the Plymouth Center for the Arts.

"Rise" is a digital photograph taken at sunrise in February 2020 at Lake Baikal, Siberia. It is a mesmerizing place as it engulfs you in its frozen embrace. The sound and feel of the ice play with the senses in strange ways. To answer the obvious ... yes, it was cold. I was prepared for that. What threw me off was the raw, stark feel of the environment and the eerie, unsettling sounds of the near endless sheet of ice.  The ice is frozen several meters down despite the appearance of deep cracks. Lake Baikal is located about 3 hours drive from Irkutsk in eastern Russia, the lake contains approximately one-quarter of the world's liquid fresh water, about a mile deep, 400 miles long and 50 miles wide.

The live exhibition is from September 19 through October 25, 2020. The gallery is open Wednesday through Saturday, noon to 4pm, Plymouth Center for the Arts, 11 North St., Plymouth, MA 02360 (social distancing and masks required). The annual Art Stroll will be on October 3, 2020 10am-4pm.
