I took this photo on a late Summer night at Squantum Point in Quincy, Mass. in a marsh overlooking the bay of the nearby town. I was out with the Greater Boston Night Photographers and the tide was a bit too high to find the typical marsh features that are fun to photograph.

On the edge of the marsh, I spotted these rock formations that looked like they were "watchers" over the bay. They are almost silhouetted, but I tried to emphasize a flag sticking out. In addition, I was drawn to the reflecting lights on the water which were smoothed by the long exposure.

The final image is a blend of three photos with exposures ranging from 30 sec to 60 sec to capture the foreground, water and background.

I hope it was worth it because I came home with a ton of mosquito bites!
