I took part in a unique exhibition, Past and Presentdisplaying my photos, North Square Night and Vintage Night Drive. The display celebrates the Boston Camera Club's 140th anniversary at the Wellesley Library, 530 Washington Street, Wellesley, MA, during the month of June 2022.

The exhibition showcased 53 photographs from 31 ‘present’ photographers that referenced twelve ‘past’ images from archives, creating a visual dialog from different eras. The exhibition revealed both changes and continuity in how photographers depict our world and lives from the 1880s to 2022.

Shown above, North Square Night (View Digital Version) responds to On Beacon Hill by Frank R. Fraprie (1874-1951). Born in Fall River, Massachusetts, Fraprie was the most influential author/publisher of American pictorial photography during the period following the Photo-Secession.

Below, I selected Mariahilfer - Street to respond to Vintage Night Drive (View Digital Version), a 1925 photo by Alexander Niklitschek. Mariahifer is a district of Vienna, Austria.

In total, the exhibition showcases 53 photographs from 31 ‘present’ members that reference twelve ‘past’ photographs from the club’s archives or representing past and current honorary members, creating a visual dialog among photographers from different eras. It reveals both changes and continuity in how photographers depict our world and lives from the 1880s to 2022.

Congratulations to the BCC on 140 years of advancing the art and science of photography!
